The New Mexico Society of Association Executives is delighted to host "Board Engagement: Roles and Goals" presented by nationally renowned expert Bob Harris, CAE. 

Topics that will be covered: 

Purpose of Boards: The role of the board, scrutiny, expectation and understanding governing documents

Duties of Directors: Board's obligations as the governing body of the association

Role of the Board versus Management Role of the executive and staff

Protecting the Organization: Traps and risk management with case studies, including antitrust, insurance and audits

Strategic Direction: Developing goals and highly effective strategic plan

Resources: New books on leadership and board of directors; templates and tools for use in your organization

Who should attend: Association Leadership (Executive Directors, CEOs, SVPs, etc.), Board Officers, Board Members, and Volunteer Leadership.

Why attend: This workshop is ideal for new and veteran board members to better understand the mission and vision; board structure and meaningful engagement; finance and compliance; and recruitment, team building, improvement and evaluation.  

Bob Harris, CAE Bob is one of the most well respected national experts on association governance and transformation. He will present practical and relevant information to make volunteer leaders more effective. Through the use of examples, tips, tools, and templates, he will share information and encourage input and questions. His training will be interactive -- based on the core knowledge of nonprofit management and governance. Bob has more than 30 years of experience in serving associations and chambers. His presentation is geared toward elected leaders of associations, with a focus on incoming leadership and the CEO/staff partnership.
