Shaping New Mexico's Future Workforce: Evidence-Based Solutions to Build a Strong Pipeline

Program Description

Science is US and the New Mexico Society of Association Executives (NMSAE) have partnered to offer a one of kind learning opportunity for New Mexico’s legislators. This two-day event is designed to give legislators the tools and resources they need to harness science and evidence in their policy decisions.

The Smart Policy Academy will give New Mexican legislators an advantage—not only can evidence make better policy, more efficiently, academy attendees will also be connected to peers and colleagues interested in collaborating and doing the same, creating a cohort of legislators equipped and eager to use evidence in policymaking.

Open to current and incoming members of the New Mexico Legislature, the Smart Policy Academy is a two-day workshop designed to give policymakers the tools and resources they need to harness science and evidence in policy decisions. 

State officials will convene on Monday, January 6 at 11:00 am and adjourn after lunch (2:00 pm) on Tuesday, January 7. A draft agenda will be provided to all participants.   

Through active participation, Smart Policy Academy scholars will focus on tools and strategies to develop innovative and evidence-based approaches and solutions to policymaking, concentrating on education, employer mobilization and infrastructure to address workforce development issues and build a strong pipeline in New Mexico. 

Full scholarships covering registration, lodging and meals are provided.

To maximize discussion and learning opportunities, the program is capped at 20 participants.
